Robin Curtis is Professor for Theory and Practice in Audiovisual Media at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf/Germany. She was born in Toronto. She works as a filmmaker (Nachlass, 1992), curator (special program »Out of Time,« Oberhausen 2001, Werkleitz Biennial 2002, Goethe Institute »Gender Conflict Resolution,« Israel/Palestine 2003) and researcher in film and media studies. From 2008 to 2011, she held a Feodor Lynen fellowship. This was followed by the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung fellowship at SUNY Buffalo, NY/USA, her position as Adjunct Professor at New York University, and her role at the Global Academic Center Berlin. From 2002 to 2010, Curtis was a research associate at Freie Universität in Berlin, where she took part in the SFB »Performative Cultures.« She is coeditor, inter alia, of the magazine Pop: Kultur und Kritik (Transcript Verlag).
