Martha Woodmansee is Professor of English and Law at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH/USA. From 1990 to 2008 she was Director of the Society for Critical Exchange, and she is a founding director of the International Society for the History and Theory of Intellectual Property. She has published widely at the intersection of aesthetics, economics, and the law. Her books include The Author, Art, and the Market (Columbia University Press 1994), The Construction of Authorship: Textual Appropriation in Law and Literature (Duke University Press 1994), The New Economic Criticism (Routledge 1999), and Making and Unmaking Intellectual Property (University of Chicago Press 2011).
