Lina Lapelytė Bio

Lina Lapelytė

Lina Lapelytė is an artist living and working in London/United Kingdom and Vilnius/Lithuania. She holds a bachelor’s degree in classical violin, a bachelor’s degree in sound arts, and a master’s degree in sculpture from the Royal College of Art, London. Her performance-based practice is rooted in music and flirts with pop culture, gender stereotypes, aging, and nostalgia. Selected shows include the 15th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale (2016), Venice/Italy; The Peculiar People (2016), Focal Point Gallery, Southend-on-Sea, Essex/United Kingdom; Double Bind (2016), Nýló, Reykjavik/Iceland and at Rupert, Vilnius (2015); Listening (2015), Hayward touring show, United Kingdom; Block Universe (2015), London; Park Nights at the Serpentine Galleries (2014), London; BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art (2014), Newcastle upon Tyne/United Kingdom; Whitechapel Gallery (2014), London; Queen Elizabeth Hall (2014), London; David Roberts Art Foundation (2014), London; Centre for Contemporary Arts – CCA Glasgow (2013), Glasgow/United Kingdom; Ikon Gallery (2012), Birmingham/United Kingdom; BBC Proms (2012) at the Royal Albert Hall, London. Lapelytė was a fellow in the field of Performing Arts at Akademie Schloss Solitude in 2016.
