Ranjit Hoskote
Ranjit Hoskote will read from a new cycle of poems that draws upon sources ranging from the Book of Jonah, Moby-Dick, and The Secret Sharer to found archival documentation and colonial and precolonial cartography. He will address the relationship, in these poems, between poetic articulation as a shifting field of dispersal and concentration, and a set of themes that include the sea; the global circulation of people, languages, goods, and images; and the seaborne histories of exploration, colonization, transcultural encounter, catastrophe, and resurrection.
